HUNDERTWASSER (1928 - 2000) | |
Yellow Last Will (Testament in Gelb) (K.43)

Günter Dietz, the German fine-arts printer, saw Hundertwasser's success with serigraphs as a challenge to his skills...
When in 1970 Hundertwasser moved into Dietz's house at Lengmoos, a new chapter began in the development of his graphic art.
He threw himself into the work with an intense enthusiasm most clearly manifested in a dedication to Dietz, "The screen
print helps me to enter a paradise which cannot be reached by means of a painter's brush."..."Testament im Mohn"
had just been finished. Extensively adapted by the artist and transferred to an underlying silver foil, it became the first
Hundertwasser original to be produced by the Dietz process. The metallic cupolas were recessed, treated with variously aligned
relief grids, and in part overprinted with a glaze, resulting in an iridescent effect. Work on the print, carried out by a Bremen publisher, was completed in December, 1971. Hundertwasser continued his wholehearted pursuit of experimenting with all possible colors, materials, pigments and exploiting them for his artistic purposes. -Walter Koschatzky, "Hundertwasser: The Complete Graphic Work 1951-1986" |
